The cliffhangers. The romance. The mess. The I know I should go to bed, but let me watch one more episode feeling. We love the format. But the more we watched, the more we noticed how rarely we saw Black characters at the center of these worlds.
Not as the side character. Not as the help. Not only in stories about slavery, struggle, or survival. Just Black people falling in love. Making terrible decisions. Getting revenge. Being rich. Being complicated. Being desired. Being funny. Being messy. Being the main character.
We deserve stories in every format. So we decided to make one.

We mean very early stage. No massive studio. No millions in production capital. We have an idea, a ridiculous number of stories, the technology to start creating them, and enough curiosity to find out whether other people want this too.

Why we're testing this
Demand comes before scale.
Short-form cinematic storytelling is expensive to create. At scale the model is interesting, but it requires proving demand first.
